ANG BUHAY TALAGANG GANYAN
Ilan sa atin ang ganito?
Na para bagang nakasipat
Sa maling dulo ng teleskopyo
Kung saan ang nakikitang imahen
Ay malabo at hilam,
Makitid at may hangganan.
Ito ba ang dahilan?
Kung bakit ang sidhi ng damdamin ay
Unti-unting napaparam?
Sa daluyong na hatid ng buhay
Umiiwas, natatakot, o nag-aalinlangan?
Kailangan lang nating iwasto
Ang pagsipat sa tamang anggolo.
O dili kaya, igala ang paningin
Sa malawak na kalangitan, at
Ang mga bituin ay pagmasdan.
Iwaksi ang pag-aalinlangan.
Itanim sa isip, damdamin, at puso
Na ang pakikibaka sa buhay,
Nababalot ng di mabilang na pagsubok.
Huwag gawing balakid, bagkus pagsikapan,
Kung paano ito malampasan.
Isang libo’t isang karanasan, gawing panuntunan.
Sa pagsisikap, pagpupunyagi ang kabayaran.

GRANDMA’S ROCKING CHAIR
Many, many years ago
I still remember-
Going back every summer
To the old cottage,
Home of my grandmother.
She stands on the porch, waiting as I ran
Eager to nestle in her loving arms.
Her sweet smile keeps my heart warm
As she says: “Hey, little munchkin, it’s about time.”
In one corner of the porch,
The same old rocking chair awaits.
I sit on her lap as we watch the sun set.
She tells me stories about the birds and the bees,
The best one I love to hear is
About the frog and the princess.
When she sees that I fuss or becomes restless,
She hums a familiar tune
While rocking me to sleep.
Now that I have a munchkin of my own,
We sat on the rocking chair, that
Survived for generations.
The creaking sound as I rock,
Memories with grandma flashes back.
The love that she instilled,
The values that I learned from her, Her memories will remain, and
Will never be in vain.

EVERYTHING, FOR GOD AND MEN
(A tribute to Rev. Father Manuel B. Perez,SJ/MD)
His dream as a child never wavers,
He keeps it in his heart
Through the passing years.
Sailing through rough seas,
Walking through hills and valleys,
His long journey goes on
Looking far beyond with a clear vision.
The hurdles that he met along the way,
A baggage-full of questions, he carry.
Could he be in two places at one time?
Could he withstand the test of time?
Yet the burning desire stays in his heart
The flame of hope, his light and guide.
Like a Christian soldier he battled and won,
God, the divine healer, his inspiration.
With every touch of his hand,
The poorest of the poor he cradles.
He eases their physical pain,
Their well-being, he nurtures.
He speaks to God in solitude,
Everyday, his faith renewed.
To Him, he offers his very self
A gift, much dearer than gold.
He opens his heart to Him and pray
Not for himself, but for you and me.

AMBISYOSANG PALAKA
Ang mahaderang palaka
Ambisyon maging makata.
Araw at gabi nakatulala,
Nag-iisip kung paano tumula.
Palutang-lutang sa batya,
Ang sinasakyang bangka.
May payong ding nakahanda,
Pag umulan,’di mababasa.
Nakatayo man o nakahiga,
Araw at gabi nakahilata.
Nag-iisip na makalikha,
Ng isang magandang tula.
Sa wakas nakaisip s’ya,
Tula nya’y may pamagat na.
Anong nangyari? Hesus Maria
Tumilapon si palaka!
‘Yun pala, ay may sumipa,
Biglang tumaob ang batya.
Nagulantang si palaka
At ang tulang ikakatha,
Ay nawalang parang bula!
